"The design team suffered numerous changes to the original design brief but always responded positively and promptly, similarly the construction and fitting out teams have been exemplary"

Rooftops

Utilising Rooftop areas

Many hospital sites are very congested and struggle to accommodate much needed new facilities. The nature of modular construction enables us to provide innovative solutions in terms of usage of space by positioning healthcare facilities in many challenging locations such as over rooftops, on steel gantry support structures and in enclosed courtyards.

Where there is limited space to expand at ground-floor level, existing rooftops can be utilised to site additional modular healthcare facilities. These can be linked in to adjacent buildings to fully integrate into the hospital's existing departments. Similarly steel gantries can be used to position and link the modular building to the relevant existing floor, meanwhile maintaining the parking or vehicular access below.

We have been involved in a number of schemes which have involved the use of existing roof spaces:

Oral Maxillio Facial Service - Northwick Park Hospital, North London
A 1,000m2 facility positioned entirely on the roof of an existing ground floor building which was rectangular in shape with a courtyard in the middle. The main entrance was linked to an adjacent building at first floor level.

Cytotoxic Pharmacy – Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, The Wirral
The pharmacy was positioned on the roof of an existing ground floor building, including a steel gantry to allow the building to span over an open ground floor area. The facility is also linked to an adjacent building at first floor level.

25-bed Ward – Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham
This 475m2 ward facility was positioned on the roof of an existing modular ward that had been previously provided by ModuleCo a year earlier. Part of the building is supported by a steel gantry, providing access to people and vehicles underneath.
